Kwesi has quite a green thumb! He proudly was a winner of WAHA's Garden Contest last year, and invites everyone to stop by to see his handiwork, and partake of some sweets and savories.

Please join WAHA on an Evening Stroll through Wellington Square, which is located just south of Washington and west of Crenshaw Boulevards. Wellington Square was first laid out in 1913 but grew up in the 1920s, and today its gracious blocks are filled with many Spanish, Tudor, Norman and other Revival styles of the period, along with some examples of earlier Craftsman homes.

WAHA Potluck this Saturday, Preservation Ordinance Hearing, and a Native Plants Event!

1). WAHA Elections and Potluck

1821 Westmoreland Boulevard (Harvard Heights, between Washington and Venice)

Please join WAHA on a visit to one of Harvard Heights' most stunning historic homes. You'll have a chance to tour this quintessential 1907 Craftsman house, owned by Odel Childress and Don Weggeman, and to enjoy its Japanese-style garden, which features fifty or so bonsai that have been cultivated over three decades, as well as a forest of sculptured Japanese black pines and pittosporum. This is WAHA's annual Elections meeting as well. Each candidate will have a chance to tell you why he or she is running for the WAHA Board. (Members, please read the Candidates' Statements in your April WAHA Matters newsletter on page 9.)

This is a potluck dinner event - please do bring a dish to share. Drinks are on us.

Please join WAHA at a very special gathering with the artist Artis Lane, in honor of her first museum retrospective. This exhibition, on view through March 2, explores Lane'' 50-year career as a painter, printmaker and sculptor, with works ranging from drawings, bronzes, studio nudes, traditional portraits and busts, to more abstract creations.

50-square-block neighborhood, largely built between 1905 and 1920 along what was at the time the Southwestern edge of the Los Angeles metropolis.

WAHA is hosting our annual Holiday bash for members and volunteers at the historic Benjamin H. Hiss Residence, Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument No. 792. This expansive and eclectic home has a Mediterranean exterior, and an elegant "ultimate" Craftsman interior, with lavish, woodwork and a not-to-be-missed paneled dining room with great built-ins. The residence is owned by Rory Cunningham and David Pacheco, and was built in 1915 for B. A. Hiss, who had at one time served as the Mayor in Hermosa Beach (where the Hiss family owned extensive property.)
