WAHA is celebrating "A Century of Holidays" in the West Acres Tract (a part of the Adams Normandie neighborhood), at the 21st Annual WAHA Holiday Historic Homes Tour on Sunday, December 2. The tour showcases five festively decorated residences, including a unique American Foursquare landmark, and several Craftsman and Victorian Transitional homes.

Hear ye, all you little ghosts and goblins! And ghoulish grown-ups. Come one, come all, to the 2007 thoroughly frightful and fabulously fun West Adams Halloween Festival!

Just like last year's event, this year's Halloween Fest will be held in Gramercy Park on the Sunday just before Halloween. There will be fun games to play and sweets to eat, and we'll be grilling up those famous Wa-Hot Dogs. Especially for the kids, we are offering a Funhouse Bouncer with a climbing wall and slide in addition to a bouncing area. We will also have a petting zoo and pony rides, an old-fashioned popcorn machine, a piñata, and a visit from our local, friendly police officers.

West Adams Avenues invites everyone to the neighborhood's Annual Free "Jazz In the Avenues" event on the Sunday before Labor Day. This is a great community fete with music under the stars headlined by Jazzman Michael King and his Michael King Trio. Plus, back by popular demand is Wendy Ryan, whose salsa rhythms rocked the house last year. Bring your own tables, chairs, and/or blankets to sit on -- plus a packed meal. Los Angels Times staff writer Bob Pool's article, " Catapulted to New Heights", was a big morale boost to preservationists worried about City Hall opposition to the declaration of the FELIX Chevrolet Showroom and Neon Sign as a LA-HCM. The article which was on the cover of the California section and above the fold, included color photographs of a nighttime FELIX neon-sign and the nomination's proponent, Jim Childs, a WAHA member and Chair of A.D.H.O.C.

The City of Los Angeles will be conducting a hearing tomorrow morning, Wednesday, August 8, regarding West Angeles Church's proposed new commercial shopping center at Crenshaw and Jefferson Boulevards. Based on data from the Zillow real estate service, top business journal rates Pico Union one of 10 fastest growing neighborhoods in big cities in the country.

Evidence of the revitalization of Los Angeles Downtown and the once-depressed communities to its immediate west and south, the March 6 Business Week rates Pico Union one of the 10 fastest appreciating and best buys in the country, with Jefferson Park a close runnerup. The study was conducted by online real estate specialist Zillow.com. The criteria was rapid increase in home price but still below the median price for the metropolitan area. Pico Union, which stands between Downtown and West Adams, has jumped from a fourth quarter 2001 median home price of $129,621 to $516,498 in the fourth quarter of 2006, a 298.47% increase in five years. It is still a bargain
